For those who have privacy concerns and want to make their account more secure, we explain how to limit activities in Google services.
Like many large technology companies, Google stores user data in the background. Search history, YouTube views, Gmail events, and add-ons in G-Suite are actually the main components that collect user data on the Google side. But in fact, it is possible to access and clean Google activities with a simple method.
Google’s My Account and Activity pages actually reveal how much the company knows about us. The first page allows to change Google account settings, while the other page displays online activities linked to accounts.
In fact, it’s hardly surprising that Google records both text and voice searches in the background. In addition, when connected to your Google accounts on iPhone or Android devices, a lot of data is stored, including search history and activities on maps.
Why Does It Collect User Data?
Apart from marketing for advertising, user data actually improves services. However, this does not mean that users will abandon their privacy. Google actually shares most of your company data with users in the ‘My Account’ section. Of course, the same is true for activities.
How to View Google Activities?
After logging in to your Google account, you can click on My Google Activity and get detailed information. Here, Google search history or YouTube watch history can be seen and quickly cleared. If you want to clear the historical data of any content, you can use the search box at the top.
How to Stop Google Web & App Activities?
Web and App Events basically cover services like maps, search or Google Play. If you don’t want to be tracked by Google in these matters, you can actually stop your activities and clear existing data.
How to Delete Google Web & App Events?
You can define the adjustment as active or passive thanks to the editing option on the Web and Application Activity section, and you can delete the historical data with the ‘Manage History’ button.
How to Stop Google Location History Information?
While Google uses location-based services, especially Maps, it is based on the region you are in. However, even when you are not using the services, Google actually tracks you through location data. Such an arrangement is being made to offer personalized maps and improve services. However, it is possible to turn this off directly from the Activity Controls. When you click on the option and remove the check button next to the ‘Location History’ button, the process is completed.
Other Adjustments
Device information, speech / audio activities, YouTube search and watch history can also be easily limited via the Activity Controls page. Users who are sensitive about privacy can also define these settings as passive.
